Dr Allen was excellent, but the video and audio would freeze up often. We then had to repeat ourselves. Very awkward and unprofessional video experience. Why is this tolerated?

I've been a patient of Dr. Rachel Allen for eight years. She's got a great memory and has resolved my problems to the best of her ability, based on what is available medically to treat my issues.

Dr Allen is very thorough, a great listener, and I believe she prescribed medications based on your needs and overall health. She was concerned about my bone density so changed my medication to best avoid further deterioration. She is warm, a great listener, and has a fun and engaging personality! I highly recommend her as a neurologist! I have never experienced a neurologist like her!!

Felt like she minimize my concerns and was pushing me off to yet another doctor, another appointment I have to schedule. Felt like I was getting the run around. She also ordered what I thought were unnecessary lab tests and then didn't interpret results.

I was extremely pleased with the thoroughness of Dr. Allen. She remembered me from a 2021 appointment, showed concern about my headaches, gave several recommendations about lifestyle changes that could help, and prescribed a medication. She explained why she was prescribing that medication along with the potential side effects, how long beforeI could expect to see improvement, and possible courses of action If It was Ineffective.

I'm the patient's daughter, completing this survey on her behalf. Dr. Allen was quite brusque in delivering her preliminary diagnosis of mild dementia. She was professional, but did not express much gentleness when sharing a diagnosis that my mom had been worried about and was understandably frightened and alarmed by. As my mother's advocate, I was not totally surprised by these results, but my overall impression was that Dr. Allen assumed mom and I were further along in acclimating to this mental health journey than we were. Dr. Allen also deferred to me more than to my mother, giving me aftercare instructions (like expecting me to forbid my mother to drive, which I only discovered in the appointment notes afterwards), and handing me a large brochure about dementia care journeys in full view of my mom, the patient. I am sure Dr. Allen is a skilled clinician, and no doubt she has to deliver this kind of bad news, and worse, to multiple patients a day. But for an initial consult with an already-anxious patient, I was disappointed by how bluntly we were assessed and sent off to book the follow-up MRI. My mother was upset by the diagnosis and the lack of any comforting bedside manner; she's reluctant to see Dr. Allen again to review the results of her pending MRI, and I can't say I blame her. I am hopeful that my mother's significant anxiety--which Dr. Allen also noted in her diagnosis--contributed to mom's haste and unease in some of the cognitive exam, and that the MRI, plus a bit more exposure to my mom's full medical and mental health history, will reveal a less severe state of progression, and perhaps some mitigation strategies or medicines to help mom and our family adjust to an altered future.

I've seen Dr Allen several tines now and it shows. She is familiar with my case/care and seems to genuinely care about a good outcome for me which I appreciate.

It was too bad that my records at Kaiser cannot be observed by the doctor that saw me for my problem. But that is not your fault or the doctor's fault. It just would be nice if all my records could be coordinated between Kaiser and optimum.

I won't be returning to this doctor. They seemed rushed, talked extremely rushed. I got no real insight into my situation. When I did try to get clarification on thing that were said I was brushed off with a Don't worry. My assistant will explain everything to you. When I mentioned their abrupt behavior they did make a limp apology and continued to without change. During part of the exam checking for nerve responses, they rushed through it often without even asking if I could feel the pokes. She may be a good doctor but she seriously needs help with bedside manner. My wife, who was present, had the same impression. My situation has brought me into contact with dozens of Optum folks and most were great. She stood out on the opposite end of the spectrum. As I said, I won't be returning to see her again if I can help it.
