She is one of the most intellectual, competent, and caring professionals I have had the pleasure of seeing for more than 20 years. As a medical provider myself, I recognize her excellence.

I found her demeaning and insulting. She repeated a few times, I know you're not coming back because you're a Natural Person. Just because I use homeopathic remedies where conventional medicine has not worked does not mean I don't value doctors. I found her dismissal of my previous OBG's advice and guidance disturbing. I asked questions she didn't bother answering. When I asked what to expect regarding cramping and bleeding for having a polyp removed, the answer was I can give you a shot of name of medicine I'd never heard of. I asked what that was and is there side effects? Answer being, it's just a huge dose of Ibuprofen, you take that, don't you? And when I turned down the option of having the polyp removed at the office visit, she said she was going to have another visit scheduled and I had better be prepared to have it removed that day. I do come to doctors to find out what may be wrong with me and learn the options to have things removed or left alone. But I do not appreciate having doctors insist that I will have procedures done without explaining things sufficiently to me. The final straw was that after I had repeatedly said I didn't want it done at the moment, she continued badgering me about it until I finally gave the reason that I had a long day at work tomorrow and didn't want to deal with whatever side effects there were, as I still had not been told how bad they might be. She asked, you don't skip work if you start your period, do you? Frankly lady, yes I do. Welcome to the 21st century where women have the freedom to skip work if their body needs it. Modern thinking about female cycles indicates that we don't have to power through life and not respect our bodies when they need rest. Definitely not coming back despite her scheduling a polyp removal. And definitely not recommending a provider who seems stuck in the prevalent thinking of 30 years ago. Already found another OBGYN with more modern thinking.

I have recommended dr el Kareh to many people. I love her. She saved my life. She is the only one that took the time to find out what was wrong with me and listened to me. I trust her 100%. I am sad that my insurance sent me a letter that Optum will no longer be accepting my insurance. What am I going to do without dr el Kareh.
