I said I thought I might be experiencing symptoms of MCAS. Dr. Campbell told me it was very rare and he had someone in yesterday who had self diagnosed. I didn't appreciate being compared to that patient. I have been experiencing these symptoms for several years and haven't brought them up because I was afraid of a reaction like this. Yet they are debilitating symptoms that need to be addressed. He admitted he didn't know much about it and gave me a referral. Each patient needs to be treated as individual without a doctor's biases influencing his practice. If that's how he is going to treat me going forward I'll find a different doc.

About Stephen Campbell, MD
My clinical interests include preventive health and chronic disease management. I am a strong advocate for the patient experience. One way I do this is by building trusting relationships with my patients. I am an experienced family physician who spent half of my career with the Mayo Clinic. I managed a busy practice for years and then went into clinical leadership. Now, I'm happy to return to my roots, working directly with patients to help manage their health.Philosophy of care
