I have worked with the metabolic team and Sabrina for the last 2.5 years and I have never once been made to feel like I was a waste or time, like I didn't matter, shamed, or that just because I was overweight I wasn't worth the time. This time was different. After the video visit I felt shame and was in tears. I was sharing with Sabrina about how my food journey has been and was telling her the recent struggle I had with food and the response I got was practically an eye roll (didn't actually roll her eyes, but it was the body language of oh you have got to be kidding me). My appointment lasted a whole 8 minutes because I didn't even know what to say or how to respond because when I brought up some of the things I was experiencing/feeling, the response I got was along the lines of well you just need to try harder and if you actually wrote out your meal plan, have some will power, you won't eat the bad things - yes thank you, because I hadn't thought of that or tried that before, that's why I asking for your help. I just felt like I was wasting her time and I left feeling so much shame for something I'm already not keen to talk about.

Again, the provider didn't try to hold the appointment. I've had other providers call me when the video doesn't work. I was surprised that no one reached out to me especially when I did call the department to explain the problem.
