I appreciated her clarifying the situation I am having with my finger. Reminding be to wear the sleeve. And I am hoping if I need to have cortisone shot again that it can be done. It was painful but the past few days it has been nice not to be in such pain. I will work at doing what I can do to alleviate pain but if it gets severe I want to be to be seen.

Dr. Bellevue listened to my concerns and provided both visual and verbal responses and explanations in clear, plain-language terms that acknowledged my questions or information I had shared. I do feel a personal internal pressure to try not to take up too much of her time and delay other appointments, but she paused, looked me in the eye and asked if I have other questions or need anything else, and gave me control over future treatment options, before we concluded the visit. She patiently allowed me time to think it over and make sure I didn't have anything further, which I appreciated.

Perhaps my expectations for this visit were too high or unrealistic? After having been treated well in two Walk-in visits after a fall, I was referred to a hand specialist. I thought, great!, they'll be able to tell me more about things that weren't clear from the x-rays, listen to my requests, and put together an effective plan of action. I told the provider what my preferences were for treatment, thinking they would be a part of the planning for making my hands and wrists better. I told the provider where I felt pain, including places that showed no damage on the x-rays. Though the provider's notes said we discussed the details and pros and cons of treatment options, that didn't happen. My feeling Is that she heard my preferences, looked at the x-rays, said ok. I also thought at the time, that she was proposing a removable brace that was difference from and better than the one I had agreed to at Walk-in and that was what I agreed to. I didn't find out I was wrong until the provider left the room and I was left with my left arm untreated and my old brace on the table. She did ask If I had any questions before she left, but again, I thought her assistant would bring me this new brace. I was mistaken. Her assistant brought me a brace for my right arm, which we did not even try on to see If It was the best option, and her assistant said she was not given any Instructions about the left arm/hand. A wasted appointment that I'm still angry about as I try to make decisions that I thought she should have helped me with. Also, when she mentioned a cast, I said, hat's the plaster thing, right? she said, 'yes.' I said, and It's heavy, right? She said, yes. BUT, my beautiful cast, made by Gospel In Orthopedics, Is neither plaster nor heavy. Did the provider not know that??!! Or was she just not paying attention to what I was saying?

Dr. Bellevue does good surgery work, but she spent less than 10 minutes with me in the room.
