Just needed antibiotics for a UTI
-
My visit with Dr. Lee started our pretty rocky. I even considered leaving the appointment moments after it had started. Dr. Lee informed me that her procedure for an appointment was to first take images of a patient and, only afterwards do an examination. Whether this is an Optum rule or Dr. Lee's routine, it seemed excessive and potentially unnecessary given she knew nothing about the reason for my visit except that I had discomfort with my left knee. In most appointments I have had, the doctor first asks to here my perspective/lets me explain the reason for my appointment, performs an exam, and then, if necessary, recommends imaging. Dr. Lee was clearly not happy with my insistence to be included in the decisions about my own care by letting me first explain my symptoms. After listening to my well prepared list of symptoms, timeline of pain, strategies tried, possible causes, and goals for the appointment, she seemed to move beyond the initial frustration with me. Her examination gave me helpful information as did the plan for pt exercises. Still, it was unexpected and unfortunate that I would have to advocate for my care from someone whom I assumed would partner with me. This is the first time I have had such an experience with a physician. And as it turns out, I never needed those images after all.

Dr. Ashley Lee is excellent.

On the last point, Dr Lee verbally reviewed certain points of my record, allowing for my response. I believe this led to a record correction re: past bilateral meniscus repair that had been recorded as knee replacement, which never happened. So I gave her credit for her approach
