Ana, the audiologist seemed OK at the onset. Instructions for the PTA test were OK. However, I felt I was rushed no explanation of prior testing to today's testing was made in the past the different audio audiologist who has left gave me this information and showed me the graft signifying which tones I had trouble hearing. And it did not show me any comparison or any data showing where my hearing was deficient, I don't recall her telling me which year was most hearing impacted. I felt she rushed me and only recommended that I must get a hearing aid. I felt that she was more sales person than medical professional.

The clinician did not give information about the severe to profound loss of hearing that I have received from other clinicians at different clinics. One example is that, with poor hearing a brain can start forgetting how words sound, sothat they might appear to have dementia when they do not. And, someone with poor hearing forgets things, not just because they didn't hear them. She should have been more thorough in explaining these and other things she missed that I am familiar with to give more basis to choose to get hearing aids. Now the decision is not to because they would be a nuisance. An uninformed decision.

I went to Ohio State University for my undergraduate studies and then to Northwestern University for my doctorate in audiology. My clinical focus areas include auditory processing disorders and working with kids and adults. I was inspired to go into medicine after volunteering at a therapeutic horseback riding program in high school. I saw the dedication of the parents and caregivers and it inspired me to help others.
