Rosa was fine in the beginning as she was my 3rd PCP/NP at Optum within a year - the prior 2 people left the practice and now I'm realizing why. Rosa tired different medications with me and was working to help me with my disability paperwork after a significant mold exposure and chronic illness. She wrote an initial letter stating my symptoms, but then wrote back to the disability company claiming that she was not really overseeing my care, as I had to get with multiple other doctors. I understand her limitations of being an NP and treating complex illness; however there was no communication to me on her end that she was communicating that to the disability company and this was a blindsided situation in my opinion. At one point under her care I had mentioned having a UTI which I've had many of and even did an at home test - she refused to write a prescription for antibiotics or follow up with me after saying I must come in for an appointment - there are MANY practices that will write a prescription same day for a UTI without a urine sample. Separately, she continued to refill my script of a benzodiazepine over the course of 6 months, without requiring drug testing, no in person appointments, and failed to discuss adjusting dosage or taper plans for the future. When I requested another refill as I had been doing through months through the portal, the front desk staff set up a virtual appointment - she was 40 minutes late, then her microphone wasn't working so she had to call me directly. On this call she said she could not provide any more bridges and that I would need to come in for an in person appointment, but I was unfortunately unable to do that until the following week. There were no bridges ever discussed prior to me needing to return for an in person appointment. She said that was just policy and directed me to urgent care for withdrawal. Urgent care is unable to give out any controlled substances - as someone at her stature should know very well, not to mention suggestion of expensive urgent care/ER visit when she's aware I've been denied disability and am not currently receiving income. After a horrible week of insomnia and various benzodiazepine withdrawal symptoms, I did not want to continue care with her. I was able to find a different NP, not through Optum, that said that was highly medically dangerous and how neglectful and concerning that level of care was. I have been advised to go to the medical board with this issue. Overall my experience has been terrible with Optum, but especially with Rosa I did not feel any level of care was met, and my health felt completely neglected. Once again I do understand her limitations as an NP, however I believe in the beginning she should have directed me to someone more experienced and compassionate for these issues.
