it was my first visit with her , but she thoroughly looked at my medical history and told me what tests were due because i had not had them in a while, listened to the few issues i had and to my concerns and took action with referrals or tests . My visit was quick and effective (i do not have time to spare, nor does she I suppose ) , and even though I am a proactive patient i felt heard and cared for.

I am submitting a formal quality‑of‑care review regarding my recent visit with Dolores Barba, MD. The issues I experienced reflect significant failures in communication, documentation, preparation, and follow‑through, and they resulted in delayed care and multiple unnecessary in‑person visits. 1. The provider entered the exam room unprepared, visibly irritated, rushed, and unapproachable. She did not review my lab results before the visit and did not go over any of them — not even the normal values. A proper visit should include reviewing normal results and dedicating time to discuss concerning ones, but none of this occurred. She did not allow me to ask essential questions. 2. No lab review occurred, including abnormal results. I was unable to address critical concerns such as my extremely high Vitamin B12, despite stopping supplementation over four months ago. The provider did not create any opportunity for discussion. 3. The thyroid panel was only partially ordered. During the visit, we discussed ordering a complete thyroid panel, but some of these tests were never entered. The discussion was not documented in the chart, resulting in incomplete testing and delayed care. 4. The provider failed to document her own recommendations. She verbally recommended Vitamin D3 50,000 IU weekly, but did not record this in the chart, and no prescription was sent. 5. My patient portal messages were ignored, misread, misunderstood despite the clarity of my messages. I sent more than five messages, none of which were answered. This reflects a complete breakdown in communication and follow‑through. 6. I was forced to make multiple unnecessary in‑person visits. Because the office did not read or respond to my portal messages, I had to make repeated trips to resolve issues created by the provider and staff. This included meeting with patient relations and returning again to pick up lab orders that should have been provided on the day of my visit. 7. Key parts of the visit were not documented. The lack of documentation caused confusion, incorrect orders, incomplete testing, and delays in care. Overall, the experience demonstrated poor communication, poor documentation, lack of preparation, dismissive behavior, failure to review results, failure to answer patient questions, failure to follow through, and multiple errors requiring repeated in‑person visits to correct. This level of care is unacceptable and does not meet basic clinical standards.

Dr. Barba is FABULOUS! She answers all my questions, talks to me about my meds and my overall health, is very friendly and caring, and takes time so I don't feel like I'm being rushed out. She has that wonderful bedside manner that doctors had when I was growing up, which is very comforting. I also appreciate that when it comes to talking about taking medications she doesn't try to push things on me (I'm not one who cares to take medications if I have other options). I even took cholesterol medication for about a year, but once my levels dropped she took me off them. That's the kind of doctor everyone should be able to expect! I'm so glad that my insurance carrier put me in contact with her.

She completed residencies at both White Memorial Medical Center and LA County-USC Medical Center, both in Los Angeles. Dr. Barba became a physician because she enjoys helping othe rs. Patients describe her as caring and dedicated.
