Prohibited Advertising Formats
The following formats are not permitted on Optum websites or digital properties:
- Pop‑ups, un‑skippable auto‑play video, auto‑play audio or any display ad that blocks site content
- Ads containing forms that collect personally identifiable information (PII) or protected health information (PHI)
Advertising Requirements
All advertisements must comply with the following requirements:
- Health claims: Any health‑related claim must be truthful, not misleading and supported by clear, verifiable evidence. Optum may request documentation to substantiate claims.
- Endorsement: Advertisers may not imply or state that Optum endorses any product, service or organization.
- Review and approval: Optum retains final approval of all advertising content, including messages, banners, creative assets and placement. Verification is required before any advertisement is published.
- Brand separation: Ads, icons and logos must be clearly distinguishable from Optum site content.
- Right to remove: Optum may reject, cancel or remove any advertisement at any time and for any reason. If removed, Optum will provide prompt notice and an explanation. Optum also determines all final ad placements.
- Data collection: Advertisers and their agencies may not collect PII, place tracking technologies (including pixels, tags, cookies or applets) or otherwise gather data from Optum websites, applications or visitors’ devices.
- Editorial independence: Optum maintains full editorial control of all digital property content. Advertisers have no influence over site content, development or editorial decisions.
- Non‑endorsement: Optum does not endorse any advertised products or services.
