Department of Veterans Affairs

Under the Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disability Examinations program, Logistics Health Inc. (LHI), an Optum® business unit, assists the VA in providing quality compensation and pension examinations to Veterans seeking benefits for service-connected health issues.

Clinical findings from the examinations are delivered to the government to facilitate timely disability award determinations.

LHI supports 61 VA medical centers nationwide and provided more than 107,000 examinations and/or Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) through the program in 2015.


Department of Defense

Since 2001, LHI has assisted the DoD in increasing the health readiness status of reservists under the Reserve Health Readiness Program by administering health assessments, dental, audiology, vision, radiology, laboratory, immunization and physical exam services to U.S. military service members.

In 2015, LHI provided more than 2 million health services through the program, helping to ensure our country’s military is physically and mentally ready to deploy.


Department of Health and Human Services

As the Marketplace Advisor and System Integrator for, Optum successfully assisted the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) with improving marketplace system performance.

Optum has been asked by states to support their health insurance exchange implementations. Optum works with CMS Innovation to provide health system transformation services throughout the country through accountable care organizations pilots and technical assistance.


Office of Personnel Management

The Optum® Health Claims Data Warehouse receives and analyzes health claims from more than 100 plans supporting the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and the state insurance exchanges.

This data warehouse provides extensive analytic tools to Office of Personnel Management for the analysis of the Affordable Care Act.
