Hi, my name is Dr. David Berger. My specialty is Internal Medicine and GI at Optum.

00:05.000 --> 00:28.000
My grandfather was a physician. My father was a rabbi, so I took a different route to helping people than he did, but I was raised to help others—and that’s what led me into medicine.

00:28.000 --> 00:51.000
My specialty is internal medicine with a subspecialty in gastroenterology. That involves treating stomach problems, colon problems, and the full range of internal medicine issues.

00:51.000 --> 01:15.000
I want my patients to know that I care deeply and think about them 24/7. I keep many avenues open for them to reach me. I usually start by assuring patients that they will be fine, we will figure out the problem, and I will be with them every step of the way.

01:15.000 --> 01:43.000
Using our electronic medical record system, I text specialists daily about my patients’ care. This helps us collaborate on testing, diagnoses, and treatment plans. I message multiple specialists every day—asking for opinions, clarifications, and preparation advice—which greatly benefits my patients.

01:43.000 --> 02:05.000
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking—believe it or not. My children cook as well, and we all cook together. I also enjoy spending time with my family. I exercise regularly and I’m a swimmer.
