The COVID-19 pandemic has overwhelmed national and local health systems due to the increasing demand for health care services, especially in vulnerable communities. In an effort to identify local health care resources and COVID-19 risk factors, Optum Serve developed a U.S. county-level COVID-19 Area Vulnerability Index (AVI). 

The Optum Serve COVID-19 AVI helps public health officials at federal, state and local levels better prepare for and manage health crises, including COVID-19, by providing comprehensive data to make fact-based decisions to protect the populations they serve.
