Mid-year HSA checkup: Are you on track? Funding your health savings account (HSA) isn’t just smart for the short term, it’s also a smart way to plan for qualified medical expenses in retirement. Your money will add up and help you pay for medical expenses years or even decades from now. You can even choose to invest some of your HSA money in mutual funds.
Remember that your savings roll over from year to year. It’s your money to use today, or you can even save it for expenses you’ll have during retirement. Make sure you have the money you’ll need for the rest of 2014 — and the years to come.
Check your status:
✓ |
Do you have enough in your HSA to at least cover your remaining deductible? |
✓ |
Have you been spending out of pocket? If so, are you saving your receipts? |
✓ |
Are you saving enough for this year’s anticipated expenses? |
✓ |
Are you saving for future health care needs? |
For 2014, you have an annual tax-free limit** of $3,300 for individual coverage or $6,500 for family coverage to deposit into your HSA.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month.
The American Cancer Society recommends that men make an informed decision with their doctor about whether to be tested for prostate cancer. Starting at age 50, talk to your doctor about the pros and cons of testing so you can decide if getting tested is the right choice for you. |
